New Roommate [edit]
August 15, 2007
I got an e-mail today from the housing department at Northern. As it turns out, my roommate has been changed from Rochelle S. to Jacqueline T.
The change was due to my roommate requirements, which were:
1. Neat
2. Quiet
3. Non-smoker
4. Non-drinker
I did a quick facebook search, and only two results came back. One girl’s last name didn’t match my soon-to-be roommate’s, and the other girl is graduating a year before me, and looks like the exact opposite of someone I would talk to. Now, I know looks aren’t everything, but the girl’s display picture… it just screamed “Attention Whore!!!11!one”
I just hope we get along, regardless of who this girl is (you’d think they would room Freshmen together, not a Sophomore and a Freshman, right?), or what she looks like.
I’m just glad I was holding out on calling Rochelle until Tomorrow! If I called her say… last week, well. That would have been awkward…
But anyway. I might call Jacqueline (I’ll refer to her from now on as Jackie) Friday, instead. Mom and Dad are going to Green Bay, will be gone all day, and since the area code of Jackie’s number places here in the Lower Peninsula (around Saginaw), it will be long distance and I don’t want Mom in my immediate vicinity to yell at me (I never use the phone, so she will — hopefully — let this slide just this once). Also, I would just feel more comfortable being in the house all by myself, not having to talk over Mom and Dad’s conversations, or the TV. I could also verbally talk my self into calling her.
My next entry will explain why I’m taking this initiative to talk to her first.
I’ll just say: 101 in 1001.
Google it if you’re confused.
If you’re not confused, you’ll know just how much this means to me.
Also, my mom picked up some empty boxes so I can start packing up my belongings. This has become all too real. Only eight days. That’s it. Eight days, and I’m gone. For nine months. I am fucking terrified.

Rochelle just called. She sounded really nice! :] I know she’s not going to be my roommate, but she said that if we wanted to meet up whie at NMU, we could. That really speaks to her character. She also said that she wasn’t avoiding me, which was nice. She sounded nervous, which actually made me less nervous!
But, I’m shaking right now. That’s how terrified I am of talking on the phone.
Well, I just thought it important to write this down. She really does sound nice!
FYI: NMU switched her to a differnt Hall, that’s why she’s not my roommate anymore.
I am still going to call Jacqueline Friday, though. Wish me luck! :]
