Breakthroughs
August 16, 2007
I had quite a few breakthroughs today!
1. I talked on the phone, probably more than I have ever in my life.
a. I talked to Scott, my financial advisor, about a loan I applied for.
b. I talked to mom, who was up the road babysitting Tate and Tanner (my nephews), to find out if the local library had a fax machine I could use to send the loan application.
c. Jacqueline called and I talked to her! We didn’t really get to discuss much, but she is bringing a chair for us to use, and I’m bringing the TV. She had to call me from her work because her home phone isn’t working. But, she has my e-mail, and she said she’ll send me an e-mail soon.
All that talking on the phone (which, I understand, seems completely normal to some of you) made me feel less… scared about it. I think I could pick up the phone right now and call someone and not feel as nervous as I did before. Also, I’m glad that I got to talk to Jackie (she seems very nice!), but I suppose we can talk about who’s bringing what later, too.
2. I drove, for the first time, all by myself.
I had to drive to the local library to fax over the loan application. It was pretty damn exciting, being in the car all by myself. It was sort of… empowering.
3. I went into an establishment (the library) all by myself.
I’ve never went into anywhere, except my school, alone. So this is quite an accomplishment for myself!
About the loan, though. I owe $2,741.26 per semester for the 2007/2008 school year. Yikes, I know. But that’s what the loan is for.
Lucy, the head of the Clinical Sciences Department, sent me three e-mails that detailed the changes in my CLS 100, 109, and 190 lecture/labs. I need to look at my scheduled classes; make a chart for each week; and put the location, class, and time into a chart before I leave. That shouldn’t be too hard… right?
I’m almost completely packed. I have most of my clothes, save for what I’m wearing right now and what’s in the laundry, packed. Now I just need to bring my radio, TV, and note to self: ask Jacqueline about a DVD player and a phone.
Grandma (on Mom’s side) came over today and brought some homemade salsa. It was sooo good! It had jalapenos, tomato, onion, lime juice, and cilantro. Yumm! :]
Mom, Tate, Tanner, and I went swimming, so I’m pretty beat.
And that’s my little update for today!
Short, I know. But watcha gonna do?
